‘OLIVER!’ PRESENTED BY KILLINA PRESENTATION SECONDARY SCHOOL
The students of Killina Presentation Secondary School staged a very successful production of the musical ‘Oliver’ over three nights last week.
Teachers Ciara Nolan and Catherine Lawless directed a cast of over sixty very talented students.
Stellar performances by Eoghan Phelan (Oliver), Lizzie Conroy (Nancy), Michael Phelan (Fagin), Shane Lynam (Artful Dodger) and Sabrina Walsh (Bet) provided gripping entertainment for the audience.
William Minnock and Karen Reynolds elicited much laughter as Mr. Bumble and widow Corny while Michael McConigleys portrayal of Bill Sikes kept people on the edge of their seats!
Patrick Walsh, Aoife Lynam and Eileen Keavney displayed great versatility in performing the duel roles of Mr Sowerberry/Dr Grimwig, Mrs Sowerberry/Strawberry Seller and Mrs Bedwin/Old Sally respectively.
The dulcet tones of Caitriona Looby (Rose Seller), Sarah Spain (Milkmaid), Graham O’Connor (Knife Grinder) and Aoife Lynam (Strawberry Seller) could grace any stage from the West End to Broadway!
Other cast members included Alan Foster, Clare McKeon, Orla Stewart, Cormac McConigley and Jack Godley who did very well only stepping in to the role of Mr. Brownlow at the eleventh hour. Well done to the first and fourth years that played the orphans and the pickpockets of Fagin’s den, there is a wealth of talent among you for future productions.
Speaking at the end of the final performance Michael Phelan (Fagin) thanked all involved in the production of the show and stated that he has made life long friends from the cast.
