60th Anniversary Celebrations
The major role played by the principals and vice-principals who have served in Killina Presentation Secondary School since its foundation in 1948 was highlighted at a special Mass and get-together in Killina Church and in the secondary school on Friday 28th November. The principals included Sr. Antonia Colclough(1948-1952), Sr. Oliver Wrafter(1952-1977 and 1980-1988), Sr. Patrick Deegan(1977-1979), Sr. Vianney O'Connor(1979-1980), Mr. Páraic Moran(1988-2004), Mrs. Carthagena Minnock(2004-2006-acting), Mr. Michael Nolan(2006-2008). The vice-principals were Mrs. Mary Neville(1975-1977), Mr. Sean Devery(1977-2006) and Mrs. Carthagena Minnock(2006-2008).The great times, the sad occasions and the numerous challenges were recalled in the entertaining speeches of three of the former principals, Sr. Oliver, Sr. Patrick and Páraic Moran. Mr. Jackie Hennessey acted as MC for the evening and enlivened the occasion with his witty recollections of times past in the school. An enjoyable night concluded with a cup of tea and a browse through some old photos.
